Cotton Wool and Knotted Wood

Yes, we still make CDs. Seems mad in this day and age doesn't it? Anyway, it's worth it for the packaging alone - beautiful recycled CD wallets courtesy of WeWow with a lovely design which is rather delightful, especially when you consider that it was made on various buses, trains and beds.

As ever it's pay what you want, the minimum cost only covers the cost of manufacture of the actual CD.

I have not nor will I leave Something in which I still believe For love is such a complex thing Not simplified by writs or rings Oil my skin To keep the badness in For eyes that see just good Are as much use now as knotted wood I have not nor will I fight For things I don’t believe are right So pass my shield and dry your eyes And listen to these battle cries WOOOO-HOOO Oil my skin To keep the badness in For eyes that see just good Are as much use now as knotted wood I demand a thousand days To make some sense of what we’ve made I do not want to build on sand Unstable feet need stable land Oil my skin To keep the badness in For eyes that see just good Are as much use now as knotted wood I WILL SAIL…my father’s boat I WILL SAIL…my father’s boat I WILL SAIL…my father’s boat I WILL SAIL…my father’s boat Oil my skin…

about

This little album started life as a live set for our Winter Warmer gig at the Georgian Theatre in Richmond, North Yorkshire, December 2011. We'd decided to re-arrange some of our songs for a more stripped down acoustic feel but, as usual, we all got a little over-excited and started gathering instruments to re-arrange the tracks. Soon we had amassed reed organs, out of tune hand bells, a shambolic brass section (us), pianos, guitars, ukuleles, whistles, double bass, drums and a violin. The gig was such a lovely night that we decided to record the tracks - adding a couple of new tunes to the best of the set.

The album was recorded live over 5 days in The Crypt, West Yorkshire. Three of the tracks were recorded as part of our Big Red Button night and the voices of those who came down for the evening can be heard on the title track Knotted Wood.

about

Hope and Social Leeds

In the tradition of the travelling bands, we guess we’re a bit like a Yorkshire E-Street Band...meets Arcade Fire...meets The Faces…meets Dexys Midnight Runners…meets Prefab Sprout…at a party...in an argument about who gets to have sex with David Bowie. We're not as good at describing ourselves as others are, so...
