vicsm I really didn't think I could love your music anymore than I do....but this album is by far the best yet! From the catchy Chorus in Dancing Into Nothing, and the gorgeous masterpiece that is This Time, to all the beautiful intricacies running throughout the 11 stunning tracks....you guys should be super proud of what you've achieved!
So dig deep everyone and buy this album, I can't recommend it enough! Favorite track: Dancing Into Nothing.

barbaral73 I think I’m brain washing my kids with this album, absolutely love it. I get days where a sing will run through my head, then the next day it’s a different one off the album.
Easily in my top two of Hope and Social albums, amazing heart warming, thought provoking and just damn good! Favorite track: Better The Devil You Know.

A New Home 03:29
I’ve been thinking about a place we can go I’ve been wondering about a new home I’ve been thinking about a place we can go I’ve been wondering about a new home I’m going to take the motorway I’m going to ride all my things away I’m going to take the railway I’m going to ride all my things away All this talking like we’re trying to escape Like an alien, like an inmate I’ve been thinking about a place we can go I’ve been wondering about a new home I’m going to take the motorway I’m going to ride all my things away I’m going to take the railway I’m going to ride all my things away One more night, two more days I’ll be here rolling away One more night, two more days I’ll be here rolling away All this talking like we’re trying to escape All this wondering like an inmate I’ve been thinking about a place we can go I’ve been wondering about a new home I’m going to take the motorway I’m going to ride all my things away I’m going to take the railway I’m going to ride all my things away One more night, two more days I’ll be here rolling away One more night, two more days I’ll be here rolling away

Eyes right, comfort me, it’s alright To focus all your mind on a good time So eyes right Let’s dance, put on our old shoes and dance the years away Focus all your mind on a good time Eyes right When the music stops we’ll be dancing into nothing All that’s left is cigarettes and a beat that won’t stop To a silent song…we’re dancing into nothing But we’re not done we’ll put our arms up These walls, they’re memory boards Tell tales, the blood and sweat and grime it’s all mine Eyes right Let’s float against the tide you and I Can damn this growing flow, heaven knows I’m right When the music stops we’ll be dancing into nothing All that’s left is cigarettes and a beat that won’t stop To a silent song…we’re dancing into nothing But we’re not done we’ll put our arms up Pull me down on the floor Pull ourselves back up Eyes right comfort me it’s alright To say aloud… It’s now or never When the music stops we’ll be dancing into nothing All that’s left is cigarettes and a beat that won’t stop To a silent song…we’re dancing into nothing But we’re not done we’ll put our arms up

Jigsaw 03:34
Now that you notice Hits you in the eyes Now that you notice And realise All these pieces missing from your life Birthdays and funerals Written on the wall Things that we cling to Make sense of it all All these pieces missing from your life Now that you know Now that you see All of the holes Of the jigsaw at your feet Bits of a picture A kitchen and a wall Parts of a garden It could be yours Holes and hollows scattered through them all Now that you know Now that you see All of the holes Of the jigsaw at your feet Now that the morning Is rising up the sky All of the bits there Before your eyes Jigsaw pieces starting to align Now when you leave here I know you’ll realise All of the picture Before your eyes Jigsaw pieces starting to align

Straight out of nothing I got to thinking We're just like the weather, just like the weather The highs of the summer, the lolloping days Then dumped in the river, the cruel winter rain How come the lovers don't feel the rain? How come the young ones don't feel the pain? Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old. We lost our way there, got lost in the fray We took a beating again and again There's things I'd do different, there's things I would change You can't change the weather, you can't you stop the rain Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old somehow. Save for when you're old. Straight out of nothing How will we all manage when we're older will you keep me safe and sound? Safe and Sound How will we manage, when there's nothing but rain When I'm not excited, and we're both just afraid I'll save you the rainbows, I'll save you the dawn, the song of the songbirds I'll save them all. Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old not now. Save for when you're old somehow. Save for when you're old. Straight out of nothing.

Northern Time kicking out the side door Any other time this is what we live/die for If you hold my glass and wait 'til the drink has cleared our veins Northern Time, stumblin' through the side door Delicately drunk, one more and we're done for If you hold my glass and wait 'til the air has washed our brains Now our talk is filled with hope/dreams Another hour and we might be Pulling at the seams, chipping at the concrete Let's learn to leave it be [whistles] Count all the lovers names drawn there on the glass door In breath and beer stains, the condensation knows all If you say that it's okay Well I'll draw our names that way If we hold our nerve and wait 'til the drink has cleared our veins To say this could be love or something we could strive for To say this could be us something we might live/die for Northern Time

Open Water 04:03
Somewhere on the other side over there’s a place I long to be Somewhere where the radio wire can’t climb its way to me Give me some love on the open mountain Give me some love in an open field Give me some love and I’ll breathe it into me Somewhere on the ripple ride water there’s a place I long to be Somewhere where the telephone wire can’t float its way to me Give me some love on the open water Give me some love on the open sea Give me some love and I’ll breathe it into me Somewhere where the music can gather there’s a place I long to be Somewhere where the news that don’t matter is quiet too quiet to hear Give me some love in a place like this one Give me some love in a place like here Give me some love and I’ll breathe it into me Give me some love on an open mountain Give me some love in an open sea Give me some love and I’ll breathe it into me

Geronimo 01:44
There a place where I long to go Deep in the bowels of the radio Oh the radio Waiting for Geronimo We paid a man to make it right Paid a man with a cocaine smile And a late night show To play us on the radio Sit tight enjoy the ride Sit tight there’s nothing like when Geronimo Hits go Don’t let it stop don’t let it fail One minute forty I’m in heaven baby Geronimo has played us on the radio Thrust my blood through those wires My heart beats through the Bakelite Oh Geronimo Press go Sit tight enjoy the ride Sit tight there’s nothing like when Geronimo Hits go Sit tight enjoy the ride Sit tight there’s nothing like when Geronimo Says no

I woke up on Monday morning stretched my bones the world is yawning back We’re right on track Another day of disappointment, TV dinner, wrinkle ointment Please tell me no It’s better the devil you know than the one you don’t Better the life you’ve seen than walking out on me It’s better the devil you know than the one you don’t Than the one you don’t As my cup overflows I’m crying daily honey let’s go out Let’s go out Come and trip the light fantastic playing hard and paying plastic Like we used to do Better the devil you know than the one you don’t Better the life you’ve seen than walking out on me It’s better the devil you know than the one you don’t Than the one you don’t Hit me hard and make me listen I’m the one who used to be on fire I’m still on fire Maybe I just need a wash, a brand new suit some spit and polish Please don’t you go Honey can’t you see without you I’d be me Another also-ran just face down in the sand Better the devil you know than the one you don’t Better the life you’ve seen than walking out on me It’s better the devil you know than the one you don’t Than the one you don’t

Give me some fire so I can burn Give me some prayers that I can learn Give me some rules that I can know Give me your hand that I can hold Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s Light a candle and show me the world you believe in Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s It’s been coming on It’s been coming on We know the words but we don’t know the meaning We sing the songs but we don’t know the reason for singing them I’m still singing them I still remember the feeling of being in a house that was built to contain all the things that you couldn’t understand That you’d never understand Then you took my hand and you said… Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s Light a candle and show me the world you believe in Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s It’s been coming on It’s been coming on Where are the books and the things we believe in? Where are the hymns and the place we were kneeling? Where are the angels all spinning my heart? Where are the angels all spinning my heart? We know the words but we don’t know the meaning We sing the songs but we don’t know the reason for singing them We’re still singing them I still remember the feeling of being in a house that was built to contain all the things that you couldn’t understand Oh God I will never understand We’re pinning all of our hopes on a sense that comes with a touch And is soon disappearing the moment it is gone, the moment it is gone You gave me some fire so I could burn You gave me some books so I could learn You gave me some rules that I can know You gave me your hand that I could hold Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s Light a candle for the world you believe in Meet me in the corner of the church of St Stephen’s Light a candle for the world you believe in Give me some fire so I can burn Give me your hand so I can burn.

This Time 06:16
This time The look in your eye Is different There’s something precise It’s pleading “don’t let it all fade” Frame this before it escapes Photographs won’t hold this time in Seeping out with colours fading How can we record how we feel this time? Polaroids won’t trap this moment Fleeing through a door left open How can we keep hold of something this time? Chasing a glint in your eye Chasing a half blossomed smile It’s futile we’re chasing the moon Oh this time, this time will do Photographs won’t hold this time in Seeping out with colours fading How can we record how we feel this time? Polaroids won’t trap this moment Fleeing through a door left open How can we keep hold of something this time? This time… ...it’s different, there’s something precise Oh this time it’s got to be right Photographs won’t trap this feeling Pin it down and stop it breathing Let it fly and flutter freely this time Touches brushed and wrapped in meaning Won’t be more if we can keep them Photographs can't hold this feeling this time… Oh this time…

Soon we’ll be waving flags Sending young men in tanks I know there’s nothing wrong with starting again Somewhere a church bell rings The papers are printing things “We’ll make us great again” I didn’t know we weren’t great but then… We spent out lives just gathering in Now is the time for drawing a line in the sand On the beaches of France Soon we’ll be waving flags Sending young men in tanks I know there’s nothing wrong with starting all over again again The poor and the dispossessed Ruled by the ruling mess “We’ll make us great again” I didn’t know we weren’t great but then… We spent out lives just gathering Now is the time for drawing a line in the sand On the beaches of France We lost our faith in things We lost our fun it seems I know there’s nothing wrong with starting all over again We lost a hundred years Somewhere a church bell rings “We’ll make us great again” I didn’t know we weren’t great but then… We spent out lives just gathering Now is the time for drawing a line in the sand On the beaches of France

about

Hope and Social Leeds

In the tradition of the travelling bands, we guess we’re a bit like a Yorkshire E-Street Band...meets Arcade Fire...meets The Faces…meets Dexys Midnight Runners…meets Prefab Sprout…at a party...in an argument about who gets to have sex with David Bowie. We're not as good at describing ourselves as others are, so...
